2020 Plou & Fils Croix du Pin Sauvignon Blanc

A nose of gooseberry, with hints of smoke and tobacco. On the palate a mix of lychees, minerality, a touch of citrus and gooseberries. The finish is slightly minerally and clean. Overall, this is very pleasant easy-drinking wine.

2016 The Atom Chardonnay

The Atom Half-Life Chardonnay is medium-to-full-bodied, abundantly flavored yet well-balanced. Aromas of citrus fruits, wet stone, and flint lead to a lushly textured palate of peaches, apples and lemon zest layered with hints of coconut; the long finish is resplendent with vanilla, caramel, baking spices and a hint of smoke.

2018 Domaine Lafage Bastide Miraflors

Jean-Marc Lafage has knocked it out of the park once again with this high-quality, low-cost stunner of a wine. The Bastide Miraflors is a blend of Syrah and old-vine Grenache. It offers loads of black fruits, roasted herbs, peppered meat, violets, and bacon fat as well as full-bodied richness, a round, opulent style, ripe tannins, and a blockbuster finish.

2016 Mazzei Poggio Badiola

Elegant, fresh red berry flavors, velvety, aromatic, and supple. The addition of Petit Verdot to the blend (65% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot) adds an appetizing spiciness and enhances its longevity. The wine spent 10 months in Tonneaux barrels (500 L) allowing the production of a fresher, more modern style while the introduction of the natural cork enables further ageing and elevates its quality level.

2018 El Chaparral Garnacha

Coming from old vine Garnacha (60- to 130-year-old vines), the 2018 El Chaparral has a Rhône-like perfume of spiced strawberry fruits, peppery herbs, dried earth, and incense. These carry to a juicy, medium-bodied Garnacha with a light, graceful texture, nicely integrated tannins, no hard edges, and a great finish. A terrific value that will evolve nicely for 3-5 years. Pair it with grilled chicken thighs.

Riesling

2018 Barnard Griffin Riesling

This wine features bright acidity with a medley of floral, spice and orange blossom. Richly textured but also lively and refreshing. The slightly minerally finish is dry and satisfying. Pairs well with poultry, seafood and mild cheeses.
