The grapes for our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon come from a selection of our estate ranches and superior family-owned vineyards located throughout the valley's finest cabernet sauvignon appellations. Long-term relationships with our growers ensure an annual supply of top-quality fruit from diverse sites. This allows us to craft a stylistically consistent and complex cabernet marrying the lush black fruit and sturdy tannins typical of the valley's warmer northern districts with the bright fruit and acidity characteristic of its cooler southern climates. Each year, our winemaking team ferments dozens of different small lots of cabernet, assessing each one in order to select the very best lots for this classic Napa Valley red.

Shafer Hillside Select Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Hillside Select is a wine of a place, produced each vintage from carefully selected blocks of the hillside vineyards surrounding the winery. These grapes are small and deeply colored, with concentrated flavors enhanced by meticulous winemaking and extensive aging in French oak barrels. Hillside Select consistently expresses the voluptuous fruit, rich flavors and velvety texture that characterize grapes grown in Stags Leap District.
Quintessa Red Wine 2013The 2013 Quintessa is a deep and thoughtful wine from an exceptional vintage. Dark and rich in color with aromas of bright cherry, blackberry and blueberry with cedar spice and notes of fresh herbs and spring flowers, this wine expresses harmony between fruit and earth. With supple tannin in balance with black fruit flavors and lively acidity, the 2013 Quintessa is truly a wine of depth and richness, balance and purity. The 2013 growing season can be described as an early, even and excellent vintage. A warm dry Spring brought early bud break and with the exception of one heat spike in late June, temperatures were consistent resulting in notably healthy vines. Cooler sunny weather throughout October allowed the final grapes still on the vine to develop superior phenolic and flavor maturity. This vintage has given us an extraordinary gift, exceptional promise and potential to exceed expectations-another year that has been described as nearly perfect.
Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2014Our 2014 Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has a garnet color with a ruby red rim and bluish tint. It has an alluring nose of chocolate-covered strawberries, vanilla, nutmeg, truffle and sage. On the palate, it has a broad yet delicate entry and offers cranberry flavors. These flavors are complimented by raspberry and pluot flavors and savory black olive characters on the mid-palate. The wine finishes with silky tannins, cedar and bramble flavors with excellent length and return. Given proper cellaring conditions, this wine will be deliciously drinkable through 2038.
Cakebread Napa Valley Chardonnay 2016Bright, creamy, golden apple, white peach, pear and melon aromas, with hints of mineral, yeast and oak spice, introduce rich, full-bodied, apple, pear and melon flavors that persist throughout a lingering finish refreshed by vibrant citrus and mineral tones. With a round, supple texture, superb concentration, great depth, and balanced acidity, our 2016 Napa Valley Chardonnay is a treat now, but it will develop even greater complexity and appeal with 5-7 years' aging.
Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc 2017Surpassingly fresh, vivid aromas of white flowers, ripe melon and citrus fruit introduce rich, zesty flavors of pink grapefruit, melon and guava, leading to a long, crisp finish buoyed by bright acidity and refreshing citrus and mineral tones. Food Pairing: Beautifully accompany seafood, poultry, vegetable and salad dishes.
Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon 2016Appearance: Deep, dark brick red to blood plum. Aroma: A seamless blend of creme de cassis, hazelnut, cocoa, blackberry preserves, charry meat, and blackberry pie along with suggestions of dark licorice, stewed rhubarb, strawberry, spice and vanillin. Mouth Feel: Rich and satisfying with chocolate brownie, yogurt, molasses, brown sugar and rhubarb notes presented in perfect balance with higher-toned fruit emphasis. Food Pairing: Cowboy-cut, grilled rib eye steak with bearnaise sauce; lamb chops with balsamic reduction; or a charcuterie platter with smoked duck breast, dry-cured pork sausage, figs, pecans and sliced apple.
